Our story began in 1902 in Japan, a time when the concept of life insurance was still new. Our founder, Tsuneta Yano, established the Dai-ichi Mutual Life Insurance Company, the first mutual life insurance company in Japan. His guiding principle was “reciprocity”—a philosophy that the company’s profits should be fairly returned to its policyholders. This ethos of mutual benefit and customer-centricity became the bedrock of our tradition.

Over 122 years, this tradition has grown. We weathered economic crises, supported Japan's reconstruction, and pioneered innovative products. Our Journey in Vietnam: A Timeline of Milestones

Since establishing our 100% Japanese-owned subsidiary in 2007, we have celebrated numerous historic milestones that mark our growth and deepening commitment to the Vietnamese people.

• 2007 – A Historic Beginning: On January 18, 2007, Dai-ichi Life Vietnam was officially founded, becoming the first 100% Japanese-owned life insurer in the country. This was the beginning of a new chapter in Vietnam’s financial sector.

• 2017 – Celebrating 10 Years of Growth: We celebrated our 10th anniversary with a grand ceremony in Hanoi, marking a decade of exceptional growth. By the end of 2016, our total premium revenue reached over VND 5,300 billion, a 51% increase from the previous year. We had already grown to serve nearly 1.6 million customers and proudly announced a VND 1.2 billion commitment to a cataract surgery program, “Bringing Light to the Poor”.

• 2022 – A Decade and a Half of Love: As we turned 15, we held the “15 Years – Connecting Million Hearts” event in Ho Chi Minh City. This milestone was a celebration of our bond with customers and a reaffirmation of our commitment to community, having already contributed over VND 55 billion to social causes.

• 2025 – The Power of Five Million: Our greatest milestone was reaching over 5 million customers! This incredible trust empowered us to achieve record success. Our total premium revenue for 2024 reached VND 19,200 billion, with total assets exceeding VND 75,000 billion, firmly establishing us as the #1 foreign life insurer in Vietnam and a top 3 player overall.

• 2026 & Beyond – The Journey Continues: We began 2026 with immense pride, being named a Top 50 Vietnam Excellent Enterprise, a testament to our resilience, adaptability, and commitment to sustainable development in a dynamic market.
